Portrait of Matthew Cassady

Matthew Cassady

Elder

While in Bible college, Matt sensed God’s call to military chaplaincy. He began as a Naval Chaplain Candidate and later joined the Army, serving at Fort Bragg. Within his first three years, he deployed twice to Afghanistan, earning an 82nd Airborne combat patch, a Combat Action Badge, and a Purple Heart. His ministry took him to Seoul, Monterey, Columbia, San Antonio, and Colorado Springs, where he medically retired after a decorated career. Following retirement, Matt and his family moved to Albuquerque in faith, where he joined the global nonprofit Faith Comes By Hearing. Soon after, God led him to the Albuquerque VA Medical Center as Chief of Chaplain Service, where he served over four years, finding deep redemption in caring for Veterans. In 2021, Matt joined the VA National Chaplain Service in Washington, D.C., before again sensing the Holy Spirit’s call to transition — this time to join the incredible team at Chaplaincy of Full Gospel Churches headquarters in Texas. Matt and his amazing wife — whom he proudly says he “married up” — are blessed with six wonderful, Jesus-loving children. Grateful for God’s faithfulness, Matt continues to say “yes” to the Lord, especially when it’s hard or doesn’t make sense in the natural.
